Overview of Behavioral Health System of Crisis Care
A behavioral health system of care must appropriately respond to any individual in any setting at any time to meet the needs of clients in crisis. Fragmented or inadequate systems of care typically shuffle clients through a constantly revolving door, providing ineffective treatment. However, healthcare systems can meet clients' needs by ensuring they encounter “a no wrong door” approach when experiencing a crisis.
This course will provide an overview of what a comprehensive and integrated system of behavioral crisis care involves. You will learn the elements of a crisis and how to assess at a systems level. You will also learn the principles and components of responsive crisis systems and how to implement best practices to meet the needs of the individuals you serve.
