The Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility - Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) is a required assessment for patients receiving inpatient rehabilitation services covered by their Medicare Part A benefit. This instrument is a clinical data collection tool designed to calculate quality measures and determine facility payment. This course provides rehabilitation professionals with an understanding of their role in the completion of the IRF-PAI and how to accurately code assessment items.
The goal of this course is to provide physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists with an understanding of how to complete the sections of the IRF-PAI that they will most likely be responsible for coding.

Nicole Fogarty holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northeastern University. She has experience treating patients with cardiopulmonary, orthopedic, and neurological impairments in the inpatient setting. She also has experience in outpatient orthopedics.
