Guided imagery is a modern form of ancient healing. Through the use of guided imagery, healthcare professionals can use the power of imagination to evoke positive mental pictures that are associated with increased well-being and positive behavioral and life changes. For patients with the ability to imagine and become fully immersed in their senses, guided imagery may be especially beneficial. Guided imagery can be used in a host of clinical conditions, as it can counteract the helplessness and anxiety that is associated will illness. This course will cover the scientific evidence supporting the use of the treatment modality and describe how to conduct a guided imagery session.
