Good communication is vital in promoting trust among caregivers and the individuals they care for. Therapeutic communication involves both verbal and nonverbal messages as well as active listening. This course discusses therapeutic communication and how to effectively exchange information with others. It also discusses barriers in communication. Without the knowledge of how to communicate, caregivers cannot develop trusting relationships with the individuals they care for. The goal of this course is to educate direct care workers in post-acute care settings on how to use therapeutic communication.
