Supervisor Training Curriculum, Pt. 3: Promoting Positive Workplace Enjoyment

Green Clock Hours: 1.75

Whether you were promoted into a supervisory position at your current company or were hired as a supervisor at a new place, knowing how to supervise the work performance of support staff can be the hardest thing to learn. This training series is for people who are already supervisors and those who expect to become supervisors.

This 3-part series is designed to prepare supervisors with the knowledge and skills they need to improve poor staff work performance, support and maintain good staff performance, and help staff enjoy and engage in their work. Throughout the series, you will learn how to take an evidence-based approach to training, supervising, and motivating support staff who work with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

This course focuses on workplace discontent, the reasons behind it, how to make undesirable duties more pleasant, and how to make work more enjoyable overall. This course also explores when it is time to resort to discipline for recurring performance problems.

The American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) developed this course based on the 3rd edition of The Supervisor Training Curriculum by Green, Reid, and Parsons. The curriculum draws upon more than three decades of applied research on staff training and supervision.
