Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is considered a stage between normal aging and development of various types of dementia. Research has identified subtypes of MCI that can be treated through a variety of approaches to support restoration of function, compensation for lost function, or adaptation of the task, environment, or caregiver approach. In this course, a case study format will define MCI subtypes while focusing on treatments to improve cognitive-communication function. Documentation, including goals and outcomes assessment, will be discussed.
