Speech-language pathologists often treat patients living with dementia for a variety of conditions, including cognition, communication, and dysphagia. This module uses a case study to demonstrate the progression of dementia and model evidence-based speech-language pathology intervention strategies to employ when working with people who have cognitive-communication deficits due to dementia in home and skilled nursing settings. Best practices for educating and engaging interprofessional and family team members for consistent reinforcement of interventions is discussed.
