How would you rate your ability to write clear, complete, concise, correct, and courteous reports? Even if you consider yourself an excellent writer, writing is a skill that you must practice just like any other skill. For instance, if you wanted to run a 10K race, what would you do? You would practice your running skills and increase your miles over time. You train your muscles incrementally. The art of writing, even supervision reports, is also an incrementally learned skill that trains your brain (yes, your brain is a muscle). Just as you can improve and refine your running skills, you can likewise improve and refine your writing skills. The goal of this course is to show probation and parole officers working in community supervision agencies strategies they can use to improve their report writing skills.
