The appropriate use of standardized assessment instruments is becoming increasingly important in the practice of ABA. For instance, some payers and providers recognize that such assessments are necessary for comparing the effects of ABA services across participants, interventionists, locations, and time. Additionally, results of certain standardized assessments provide information about a client’s functioning levels and preferences that can and should guide ABA treatment planning and progress monitoring. Unfortunately, these topics have not been addressed adequately in behavior analysis circles, with the result that many practitioners have little knowledge of standardized assessments or, worse, harbor misconceptions about them. This podcast will attempt to remediate some of those problems.
