It is critical for all healthcare professionals to recognize their own implicit biases. Once recognized, then you are able to manage your implicit biases to deliver equitable, person-centered care. This course will assist physical, occupational, and speech-language pathology professionals in understanding what implicit biases are, why we all have them, and how, by recognizing your own biases, you can better engage and treat patients who look and act different from you. Gary Johnson attended North Carolina Central University where he completed his BS in athletic training. He received his professional Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Gary is a board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy. His clinical focus is primarily in orthopedics and sports. Victoria Smith is a licensed physical therapist within the state of North Carolina. She has over 14 years of experience practicing in the acute, outpatient, home health, and early intervention settings.
