Instructor: Tiffany Shubert, PT, PhDMr. Studer has been focused on neurologic PT for the entirety of his career, which began as a PT in 1991. He founded and owned a 4-clinic, 6-site outpatient PT, OT, and SLP program in 2004, Northwest Rehabilitation Associates, Inc and is now a co-owner of Spark Rehabilitation in Bend, OR where he is on faculty teaching Motor Control Across the Lifespan at the Oregon State University DPT program. Mike has served at the state and national level in many capacities as high as the Vice Presidency of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy (ANPT) and Chair of the Practice Committee. As a full-time clinician, he has innovated treatment ideas and helped to translate knowledge to practice, serving as an invited speaker at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting for more than 15 separate platform presentations from 2004 to 2021. He has similarly been an invited presenter at several state chapter meetings, large rehabilitation conferences, universities, and rehabilitation centers of all sizes, spanning all 50 states, 10 countries, and 4 continents on the subjects of motor learning, motor control, Parkinson’s Disease, stroke rehabilitation, neuroplasticity, concussion, dual-task rehabilitation, and balance. Mike has authored or co-authored 6 book chapters, over 35 articles, and several invited commentaries within the fields of neurologic and geriatric rehabilitation. He has been and is currently the principal site investigator for NIH-funded clinical research in neurologic rehabilitation, having co-developed the Modified Dynamic Gait Index. Mr. Studer was honored with the Clinical Excellence award by the ANPT and AGPT, and the designation as a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the APTA.
Dr. Shubert has a Master’s in Physical Therapy from UC San Francisco/San Francisco State University and a PhD in Human Movement Science from UNC Chapel Hill. She is a licensed physical therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. She has taught in pre and post-professional DPT programs and is a funded researcher with 35 peer-reviewed publications. Scott Oliaro is a 1993 graduate of Cornell University, where he earned a B.S. in nutritional sciences. He earned a Master's degree in athletic training from North Carolina in 1996 and in 1998 he was hired as a certified athletic trainer assisting with coverage for both the football and softball programs. He served seven seasons as an assistant athletic trainer and two as the head athletic trainer for football. In 2013, Oliaro was named head athletic trainer and associate director of sports medicine at UNC in 2013. He serves as the head athletic trainer for field hockey and the men's and women's golf teams.
Oliaro supervises the Stallings-Evans Sports Medicine Center and assists the education program as a lecturer for both the undergraduate and graduate athletic training programs. He has authored several articles in various medical journals, including the Journal of Athletic Training, and presented a variety of topics at national, district, and local levels. He is a Board Member for the College Athletic Trainers Society currently serving as their education program director. He is certified by the Titleist Performance Institute as a Certified Golf Fitness Professional.
