Subject Matter Expert: Faerella Boczko, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-SMary Casper, MA, CCC-SLP, ASHA Fellow, FNAP, is the Senior Director of Special Interest Group Programs for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She previously worked for a large post-acute care organization supporting speech-language pathologists in their clinical practices. She has presented to local, state, national, and international audiences on dysphagia and other healthcare topics. Mary has served with the U.S. IDDSI Reference Group (USIRG) since its inception in 2021 and is a member of the Dysphagia Research Society.
Writer: Susan Almon-Matangos, MS, CCC-SLPFaerella Boczko, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S, is a Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders. She is Director of the Department of Speech-Language and Swallowing Disorders at The New Jewish Home in New York. Faerella Boczko has served as principal investigator to two research grants, authored book chapters, published research articles, and presented at numerous international and state professional society meetings. She has over 35 years of experience working with the older adult population.
Susan Almon-Matangos, MS, CCC-SLP, is a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist with over 30 years of experience. She obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology from Jacksonville State University and her Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology from The University of Alabama. She worked with clients of all ages and a variety of diagnostic conditions in school, hospital, skilled nursing facility, outpatient clinic, and home health settings. In her previous role as a national clinical director for Aegis Therapies, she created training programs for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology related to the clinical rehabilitation needs of older adults in post-acute care. She currently draws upon her expertise in her role at Relias as Lead Subject Matter Expert Writer for Speech-Language Pathology. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
