Podcast: Aging with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Overview for Rehabilitation
Many older individuals who demonstrate behaviors characteristic of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) were never officially diagnosed as children. Some are diagnosed later in life, but many of these individuals are aging with autism and requiring rehabilitation services in skilled nursing and home health settings. Little is known about how to provide rehabilitation to adults aging with ASD, whether or not they have an official diagnosis. This 1-hour audio-only course will provide an overview of the disorder for clinicians, common clinical presentations, and best practices for evaluation and treatment.

She worked with clients of all ages and a variety of diagnostic conditions in school, hospital, skilled nursing facility, outpatient clinic, and home health settings. In her previous role as a national clinical director for Aegis Therapies, she created training programs for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology related to the clinical rehabilitation needs of older adults in post-acute care. She currently draws upon her expertise in her role at Relias as Lead Subject Matter Expert Writer for Speech-Language Pathology. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
