Rehabilitation professionals empower patients to manage their medications, modify their lifestyles, and manage their diabetes. The interventions of rehabilitation professionals become even more critical when working with older adults, especially those with comorbidities or conditions that influence their ability to self-manage their disease. In this course, physical, occupational, and speech therapy professionals will learn the standard pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of diabetes, how to identify if a patient needs to improve their self-management, and how to best support their patients in self-management.
