Practicing your responsibilities and team interventions ahead of time will help to prepare you for the unexpected. This course provides you with an opportunity to participate in five emergency scenarios to test your knowledge. Instructor: Brian C Sheridan, CSTBrandy graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Capella University. She is a certified perioperative nurse with versatile skillsets in the circulator and scrub roles for an array of surgical specialties. She fulfilled numerous nursing leadership responsibilities as the Surgical Services Clinical Educator and Periop 101 instructor for UNC REX Healthcare located in NC. She has been an active member of several hospital committees and contributed to numerous process improvement initiatives. She developed her core nursing skills early in her career while working on a postoperative and medical-surgical overflow unit where she served in a variety of roles, including charge nurse, preceptor, Magnet Champion, and admission/discharge facilitator. She currently works as a perioperative SME and course writer at Relias. Her long-term career goal is to support healthcare professionals in creating a safe and efficient environment that promotes optimal patient outcomes.

Brian is an accomplished certified surgical technologist with over 15 years of experience. He graduated cum laude on the Dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement with a certificate in Surgical Technology from Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. He is well-versed in a variety of specialties including multi-surgeon complex cancer cases. As a preceptor, he enjoys sharing his knowledge with new surgical technologists and nurses, teaching them the fundamentals of the scrub role. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania State Assembly of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
