Learning Objectives:
Compare and contrast diseases of the pericardium and myocardium.
Identify four major types of valvular dysfunction, including mitral and aortic regurgitation and stenosis.
Differentiate rheumatic heart disease and infective endocarditis.
Identify some basic dysrhythmias.
Recognize the pathophysiology of heart failure.
Compare and contrast the different types of shock.
Identify the pathophysiology of septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.
