As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact more people across the globe, the healthcare and scientific communities are learning more about the coronavirus that is causing it. This nursing CE course, based on information available in mid-2020, focuses primarily on the background, history, and spread of the coronavirus. This easy-to-read narrative course will also cover research and information showing how some asymptomatic patients may be able to spread the disease, how holder patient and those with underlying conditions are at greater risk of developing severe disease, and how healthcare workers may also be at greater risk of not only contracting the virus, but developing worse symptoms. The course will also cover the lower risks that have been observed in children, along with reports of complications among the younger populations, and current understanding of treatment/supportive care for those battling the virus.
