Ophthalmology is a medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the eye and visual system. This course provides an overview of the ophthalmology procedures and services classified in the Medicine section of CPT, including eye exams and special services such as refractive state determination and visual field exams, ophthalmoscopy, contact lens services, ocular prosthetics, and spectacle services (i.e., glasses). This course also introduces the learner to the guidelines and common modifiers pertaining to the ophthalmology codes in the Medicine section of CPT. The course will focus on identifying the appropriate coding for procedures in the Medicine Section using case studies and scenarios. A current copy of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®), Professional Edition is strongly recommended to optimize your understanding of the content covered.
