Respiratory therapists (RTs) play a critical role in managing complex medication regimens for patients in the post-acute care setting. RTs need to understand and be able to explain to patients the use, contraindications, and side effects of commonly prescribed respiratory medications. Learners who take this course will review best practices, roles and responsibilities in medication management including reviewing all medication orders for accuracy, and patient education including purpose, use, and medication storage. Updates on newer classes of medications used to manage respiratory conditions, including monoclonal antibodies (biologics) are included.
