The use of medications is an essential element of treatment for many illnesses and conditions, especially those that are chronic in nature. Some medications are given routinely while others are only given on an as needed, or PRN, basis. This course discusses commonly used PRN medications along with their side effects. It also discusses the steps you should take prior to and after administering a PRN medication. Without the knowledge of how to manage PRN medications, the individuals you care for will have a decreased quality of life.
The goal of this course is to educate medication aides in post-acute care on how to manage and administer commonly used PRN medications.
