Having a solid understanding of current OBRA regulations related to the MDS process is paramount for regulatory compliance. In this course, learners will be introduced to the OBRA assessment types as well as their scheduling requirements. It also presents requirements related to Entry records, Discharge assessments and Death in Facility Records.

Instructor: Kim Matthews, RN
Kimberly Matthews, RN obtained a nursing degree from Western Kentucky University in 1998. Ms. Matthews possesses over 20 years of nursing experience with over 17 of those in the Skilled Nursing industry. Ms. Matthews has extensive experience in MDS, restorative nursing programs, and nursing management. Ms. Matthews is currently a Post Acute Care Content writer and subject matter expert for MDS.Instructor: Ron Orth RN, CHC, CMAC
Reviewer: Laura Anderson, MSN RN, WCCRon Orth obtained a nursing degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1985 and a B. A. in Health Care Administration from Concordia University in 1996. Mr. Orth possesses over 30 years of nursing experience with over 20 of those in the Skilled Nursing industry. Mr. Orth has extensive experience in teaching Medicare regulations to healthcare providers both in the US and internationally. Mr. Orth is currently the Director of Curriculum Design for Post-acute Care at Relias. Ron is certified in Healthcare Compliance through the Compliance Certification Board (CCB). Ron has also successfully completed the Infection Control Officer training through the AHCA.
Laura Anderson earned an Associate Degree in nursing at Southwestern Wisconsin Technical College in 2004 and a Bachelor of Science in nursing and fine arts from Viterbo University in 2006. She earned a Master of Science in nursing with an emphasis in geriatrics, mental health, and education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009. Laura has over 20 years of long-term care experience. She has held positions including Director of Nursing, Clinical Informatics Nurse, Senior Clinical Consultant, Nurse Auditor, Business Office Manager, and author. Laura is currently a Curriculum Designer for Post-Acute Care at Relias.
