Individuals with confused thinking related to dementia exhibit many behaviors, including wandering, that even trained caregivers find challenging to manage. For some individuals, wandering is safe and healthy; but it also has the potential to be harmful and even life-threatening. As a home health care worker, you must provide care to patients with wandering behaviors in a way that keeps them safe and decreases the need for residential care. In this course you will learn how to identify patients who are at risk for wandering, help prevent and manage wandering behaviors, and minimize the potential hazards associated with wandering. The goal of this course is to provide general staff in home health with guidance for managing wandering in the home.
