Caring for individuals with dementia can be rewarding but also challenging at the same time. Almost all individuals with dementia experience behaviors related to a lack of understanding or a need that is not being met. Managing the dementia-related behaviors can be difficult and often challenging. This course discusses how to perform behavioral and social assessments and how to manage disruptive behaviors. It also discusses treatment interventions to keep the older adult with dementia safe. Without the knowledge of how to manage dementia related behaviors, the quality of life of individuals with dementia declines.
The goal of this course is to educate administrators and nursing professionals in post-acute care settings on managing behavior challenges.
