Effective management of older adult health requires all team members to align care based on the patient's needs, implement evidence-based practices, and do no harm. This complex process can be simplified by implementing the 4Ms framework. This framework is the basis of Age-Friendly Health Systems and over 2000 healthcare systems have adopted it across all settings and disciplines since 2017. Rehabilitation therapists who understand the goals of Age-Friendly Health Systems and how to integrate the 4Ms framework play an important role in achieving the best outcomes for their patients. Christopher Meketansky OTR/L graduated from Stony Brook University in 2017 with a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. He received training in manual therapy, specialized treatment for individuals with degenerative neurological disorders and post-stroke neurorehabilitation. He has worked in skilled nursing and home healthcare settings with experience treating patients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, balance impairments, and a myriad of other conditions impacting the older adult population.
