Interprofessional Education: Impact and Design
Contemporary healthcare requires efficient and effective interaction and teamwork by groups of diverse healthcare providers. Interprofessional (IP) education aims to improve collaborative practice in which healthcare decisions are made as a cohesive group, including the patient. Continuing education programs with an IP focus can be a powerful method to break down barriers that hinder collaboration. This course will review the essential features of IP teamwork, the emerging role of IP continuing education in supporting the growth and effectiveness of healthcare providers, and the maintenance of well-functioning clinical healthcare teams. Subject Matter Expert: Dorothy W. Angelini, RN, MSN
Dorothy (Dody) W. Angelini, MSN, RN has more than 30 years experience in nursing, including clinical practice in maternal and child health, public health, and continuing education. She received bachelors in nursing from Adelphi University and her masters in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. Dody served as the director of maternal and child health services for the New Jersey Department of Health where she was responsible for the development of a statewide system of maternal health services in NJ. She is currently senior accreditations officer at Relias where she oversees the accreditation process for various healthcare professions.Writer: Meredith Moyers MS, RD, LDN
Meredith earned a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from The University of Akron and a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from Eastern Michigan University. After completing her internship with The Detroit Medical Center in 2007, she began working in various academic medical centers in Ohio and North Carolina. She has experience in providing nutrition therapy in both acute and ambulatory settings. Her areas of nutrition specialty include oncology, cardio-thoracic transplant, renal, and general medicine. Meredith has been a guest speaker for numerous cancer survivorship groups and presented telemedicine lectures for North Carolina community colleges. She founded and ran an oncology teaching garden at the SECU Family House for patients and their families undergoing cancer treatment at The University of North Carolina. She is currently a SME writer for Relias.
