Behavioral health equity is the right to access high quality and affordable healthcare services and supports for all populations. Advancing health equity involves ensuring that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. This also applies to behavioral health. In conjunction with quality services, this involves addressing social determinants of health, such as employment, housing stability, insurance status, proximity to services, and access to culturally-responsive care. All social determinants of health have an impact on behavioral health outcomes.The goal of this course is to introduce behavioral health providers to strategies they can use to address health inequities for people living in remote or rural areas.

Jennifer received her Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work and Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Master’s degree in Social Work with a Certificate in Substance Abuse Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
