This course presents the proper procedure for taking an oral temperature. While there are other physical sites for obtaining an individual’s body temperature, such as by rectum, the tympanic membrane in the ear, axilla or underarm, skin, and temporal artery on the forehead, this course only provides the procedure for the oral method. Be sure that you are familiar with the thermometer your organization provides and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for device use and cleaning.
