A flexible sigmoidoscopy is a procedure frequently done in an endoscopy center, but is also performed in the operating room (OR) following a bowel procedure. It is often performed for diagnostic purposes to check for polyps, adenomas, rectal bleeding, and lesions or to confirm a proper anastomosis after a colon resection. This course provides education for surgical technologists (STs) who may assist with this procedure. The goal of this course is to educate STs with knowledge of flexible sigmoidoscopy, its indications, and potential complications.
