EIB is a condition in which exercise or aerobic activity triggers transient acute narrowing of the airways, occurring in both individuals in individuals with and without asthma. It is estimated that up to 90% of individuals with symptomatic asthma experience some degree of EIB; however, as many as 20% of those without asthma may also be affected (Gerow & Bruner, 2022). To effectively manage EIB, prevention is key. Raising awareness and providing proper treatment makes the prognosis positive for most individuals who experience EIB. With adequate treatment, there should be no need to limit physical activity (Aggarwal et al., 2018).
