Enhancing Treatment with Measurement-Based Care

Green Clock Hours: 1.00

Behavioral health disorders are on the rise in the United States and globally. Research suggests that measurement-based care can improve treatment decisions and outcomes (Lambert et al., 2003; Martin-Cook et al., 2021). The framework of measurement-based care can even be successfully used across client diagnoses as well as clinician theoretical orientations (Scott & Lewis, 2015). However, what we are finding is that measurement-based care in behavioral health treatment is greatly underused. Less than 20% of providers use rating scales or other assessments to inform treatment plans (Lewis et al., 2019). This course will explore measurement-based care, what data can be gathered, and how that data can be integrated into clinical behavioral healthcare. Through a case analysis, we will also explore the benefits and challenges of implementing this approach.
