Dr. Carol O. Long is a national expert in community-based healthcare and has assumed varied nursing and consulting positions in research and education. Dr. Long has numerous articles, monographs, book chapters, and books related to community-based care, end-of-life care, hospice, and pain management. She has presented end-of-life and palliative care for advanced dementia training nationally and internationally. Her research centers on outcome indicators in advanced dementia care and staff knowledge and attitudes relative to palliative care interventions. Dr. Long has been an ELNEC (End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium) trainer since the course’s inception. She is a Fellow in the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association and the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Long is a Transcultural Nursing Scholar with the Transcultural Nursing Society of America.
