The goal of this course is to provide addictions, behavioral health counseling, case management/care management, marriage and family therapy, nursing, psychology, and social work professionals in health and human services settings knowledge to help military families navigate the effects of deployment, combat stress, and frequent moves.

Monty Baker, Ph.D. received his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. He completed a pre-doctoral internship at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base Maryland, which included specialty rotations in primary care, military psychology, behavioral medicine, and time-limited psychotherapies. He is licensed as a psychologist in Florida and has served in the Air Force as a Military Psychologist for 20 years. He has provided a range of services to diverse populations including children, retirees, family members, and Active Duty service members. He has held an adjunct appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas-Health Science Center at San Antonio since 2007 and has over 130 academic presentations and publications. He is an Associate Investigator on several research projects and has previously served as Principal Investigator for multiple DoD grants. Bridgett Ross, Psy.D. received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Boston College and then her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. She is a licensed psychologist in California and was in private practice for 13 years treating various issues including trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, grief/loss, and issues around self-concept, identity, and attachment. Having supervised pre-licensed and licensed clinicians, she maintains an interest in professional issues in the field of psychology. Dr. Ross’ training and work history include Children’s Hospital Chadwick Center for Children and Families, Kaiser Permanente, Alvarado Parkway Institute, and the Department of Veterans Affairs, which informed her focus on providing evidence-based trauma treatment to diverse populations.
