This course will cover coding pacemaker or implantable defibrillator procedures using the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set. CPT codes for pacemaker or implantable defibrillator procedures are found in the Cardiovascular System subsections of the CPT Surgery section and Medicine sections, as well as in the Category III section. Codes from additional sections of CPT are included where applicable to a particular scenario, such as ancillary services or complicatons. This course covers procedures for pacemaker or implantable defibrillator systems, leadless pacemakers, and electrophysiologic operative procedures.
Coding these procedures using the CPT codes requires knowledge of the heart's conduction system, types of device systems, and the CPT coding guidelines and instructions. A current copy of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®), Professional Edition is strongly recommended to optimize your understanding of the content covered.
