Respiratory conditions are common in all healthcare settings. Both lower and upper respiratory conditions can be deadly in older adults or others with comorbidities. Respiratory conditions such as pneumonia and bronchitis can impact an individual's quality of life and their ability to carry out activities of daily living. This course discusses the prevention and management of bronchitis and pneumonia. It also discusses the special care that is required for individuals with pneumonia or bronchitis. Without the knowledge and understanding of pneumonia and bronchitis, direct care staff may not be able to provide the proper care for an older adult with these conditions.
