Myofascial release (MFR) is a specific manual therapy intervention to address subacute and chronic pain caused by fascial restrictions. MFR techniques have been effectively used by physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists to treat patients with a variety of impairments. This introductory course will review the pathology of fascial restrictions, the mechanism of MFR to address those restrictions, common clinical presentations most likely to benefit from MFR, and the most appropriate techniques. Case studies will model the clinical reasoning behind selection of techniques and will include examples of documentation to justify treatment.
