Assisting with Self-Administration of Medications: Medication Orders
The purpose of this course is to teach unlicensed staff working in non-hospital care settings or facilities how to assist individuals with self-administration of their medications. You will learn about medication types and orders. This includes the instructions often found in medication orders and what they mean. You will also learn how to recognize a medication order that requires judgment and detect when information is missing or incorrect.
The goal of this course is to teach unlicensed direct care staff in all post-acute care settings how to help people safely self-administer their own medications.

Elizabeth Vaccaro earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Kean University. She has worked as a Multiple Sclerosis Nurse Educator. Elizabeth has worked in a variety of healthcare settings from the hospital to the pharmaceutical industry which has allowed her to have a great appreciation for all the challenges that span the healthcare field. She has practiced in the hospice setting for nine years in a variety of roles from Case Manager, Educator, and Director of both inpatient and home care hospice.
