OASIS-D1: Introduction to OASIS 

Understanding the OASIS tool is required of all home health clinicians who participate in completion of the OASIS. This module describes the history of the OASIS, the purpose of the OASIS, and identifies who can complete the OASIS. It will also review time points during the episode of care during which the OASIS is completed and review some guidance available to code it accurately. Note: Unless otherwise stated, the information contained in this course was sourced from the OASIS-D Guidance Manual published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS, 2018).

Mrs. Cook has over 18 years' experience, primarily in the home health industry. She began her home health career as a field nurse, and has since served as a Team Leader, Outcomes Coordinator, Coding Supervisor, and currently as the Coding and OASIS Manager at BlackTree Healthcare Consulting.  Jessica's knowledge of home health regulations along with her versed experience performing and reviewing OASIS has allowed her to help expand the knowledge of clinicians as well as agency staff.
