The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is the international standard for classifying diseases and reasons for patient visits in all types of healthcare settings. The 10th revision (ICD-10) for use in the U.S. is called the ICD-10-CM, which has 2 sections. The Alphabetic Index includes coding assignments arranged alphabetically. In the Tabular List, coding is arranged by body systems and conditions grouped by chapters.
