Uncovering Depression

Uncovering Depression

Clinical, or major, depression is a significant chronic disease worldwide. The World Health Organization identifies depression as the leading cause of disability worldwide and estimates more than 300 million people suffer from depression and almost 800,000 die from suicide each year. This course will focus on unipolar depression, particularly on screening and accurate diagnosis; treatment and treatment compliance will be covered in less detail. Anxiety will be discussed in the context of its occurrence with depression.
