In recent years, research and clinical practice have demonstrated that complex inter-relationships exist between hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, obesity, and hypertension. A consensus has emerged within the medical field to identify this constellation of symptoms as metabolic syndrome. This program will update healthcare providers’ understanding of metabolic syndrome and its implications in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and cardiovascular disease.
