Tuberculosis Overview

Tuberculosis Overview

Fever, loss of appetite, chills, night sweats, and a persistent cough are symptoms that could indicate the potential presence of tuberculosis (TB). When these symptoms are present it is important to seek medical treatment to determine if an individual has active TB disease. Additional follow up with a health care team can also be required since some symptoms are less obvious. Tuberculosis can be contracted through the air, therefore quick identification is imperative in the prevention of the spread of this disease process. This course is designed for individuals working with people who may have tuberculosis. You will be able to review the significance of TB, the health factors associated with the disease, and the populations at greatest risk. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to identify symptoms of the infection, disease management, infection control practices, and ways to apply your new knowledge in your own work environment.
