After completing her B.A. at UMaine Farmington, Dr. Pollard earned her MA and PhD at the University of Connecticut where she studied jail diversion programs, particularly the relationship between perceived coercion and outcomes, gender and trauma specific treatment for justice involved women, and other services research for the commissioner's office of the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addictions Services (DMHAS). During graduate school, Dr. Pollard had an influential clinical experience of working with a young person in the early stages of psychosis, which inspired her to pursue training in early intervention at Yale, where she completed a 2-year fellowship and served as STEP's first project director.
