The purpose of this course is to familiarize learners with the swallowing disorder dysphagia. A review of the mechanics and stages of swallowing are presented. This course engages the learner in content related to signs and symptoms of aspiration, with a review of diagnostic tests and interventions used to assist those with dysphagia. Strategies for aspiration prevention are discussed, including diet and liquid modifications.
