Marijuana and Cannabinoids, Pain and the Brain

Marijuana and Cannabinoids, Pain and the Brain

Marijuana can have negative impacts on the brain, lungs, and cardiovascular system. Particularly on the developing adolescent brain, marijuana can have significant negative impacts. Recently, however, questions have been raised about what, if any, beneficial uses of marijuana for relieving the symptoms associated with certain diseases and illnesses could be. Due to limitations on the ability to perform research studies on marijuana, there has been a lack of evidence-based research. This course will discuss the impacts of marijuana on the human body, differences between natural and synthetic cannabinoids, and the possible medicinal benefits of marijuana based on the current research.
