Also discussed are the means of preventing HIV infection and the treatment of HIV disease and AIDS, topics dental professionals can discuss with patients. The course also covers infection control procedures recommended for dental practice, and the clinical manifestations of dental patients with HIV disease. THIS COURSE IS NOT APPROVED FOR KENTUCKY.

populations are most vulnerable to the conditions it can cause.
Know modes of transmission and the means of preventing
infection.
Become aware of the drug treatment regimens used for protection
(pre-exposure prophylaxis) and treatment.
Manage HIV/AIDS in the clinic and in the workplace via OSHA
Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and CDC guidelines.
Conform to legalities of testing, treating, reporting, and counseling
cases of HIV disease.
Understand appropriate attitudes and direct appropriate behavior
towards patients infected with HIV/AIDS.
