Learning Objectives:
Explain how HIV disease develops in the body and which
populations are most vulnerable to the conditions it can cause.
Know modes of transmission and the means of preventing
infection.
Become aware of the drug treatment regimens used for protection
(pre-exposure prophylaxis) and treatment.
Manage HIV/AIDS in the clinic and in the workplace via OSHA
Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and CDC guidelines.
Conform to legalities of testing, treating, reporting, and counseling
cases of HIV disease.
Understand appropriate attitudes and direct appropriate behavior
towards patients infected with HIV/AIDS.
