The use of electronic communications and social media allows users to instantly share pictures and personal messages with anyone, anywhere. But as the opportunities to share information online have increased, so have the challenges for keeping information private. The goal of this course is to make you more aware of social media’s privacy pitfalls and how to avoid them. In this course, you will learn how to avoid HIPAA violations when using social media and other forms of electronic communication. Unless otherwise stated, the information contained in this course is sourced from the HIPAA Administrative Requirements and HIPAA Privacy and Security laws (Department of Health and Human Services, 2013).
