The General Inpatient and Continuous Home Care Levels of Care

The General Inpatient and Continuous Home Care Levels of Care

Mitigating payment-related scrutiny of the General Inpatient (GIP) and Continuous Home Care (CHC) levels of care is dependent upon a hospice’s ability to appropriately initiate the GIP and CHC levels of care. Hospices should also be able to ensure clinical documentation is sufficient to support payment for these levels of care. This course details when CHC and GIP levels of care are appropriate, the steps to initiate CHC or GIP, and documentation to support payment.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are an LPN taking this course, it is important to remember that you are NOT allowed to assess but rather can collect data. In this course, the use of any form of the term assess also refers to the collection of data.
