Elastic stockings aid in circulation and healing and are used to promote comfort and prevent injury. They are generally used on individuals who are at risk for developing blood clots, for example, those who have had surgery, who have heart and circulatory disease, are currently on bed rest, or older individuals. Elastic stockings often have the advantage of being easier to apply and less cumbersome than other bandages or pneumatic devices (Lim & Davies, 2014). This course reviews the steps involved in applying elastic stockings. This course corresponds to the Federal regulations G226 & L543.
