Implementation Guidelines for Telehealth Practitioners

Implementation Guidelines for Telehealth Practitioners

This course aims to teach you how to build a telehealth program. Telehealth is designed to enable everyone to have access to healthcare, using information technology to enable healthcare when distance separates two or more people. In this course, you will learn how to determine your readiness to begin a telebehavioral program and the steps needed to get started. Readiness includes assessing interest in using the technology, support from leadership, mentorship for guidance through the process, and considerations about laws, regulations, licensing, and liability. To get started, you will learn the keys for establishing a telehealth team, the importance of planning, securing buy-in from stakeholders and funding for the program, selecting and training staff, building partnerships, and engaging patients.

Information and vignettes will be blended to offer practical strategies that you can apply in your own setting to use telehealth for adults with behavioral health issues. You will learn how to assess whether you and your colleagues are ready for a telehealth program, and you will learn about providing the appropriate setting for telehealth. You will also consider cultural issues related to telehealth, and you will learn about resources to help you as you are getting started.
