Diagnosis and Treatment of Personality Disorders

Diagnosis and Treatment of Personality Disorders

As a mental health professional, you know how difficult it can be to understand the complexities and work with individuals who have personality disorders. The information in this training will help you better understand personality disorders, including their diagnostic criteria, how they may develop, their course, and prevalence. Throughout this course, you will learn about the nature of personality disorders, and how they are clustered. The course will address some key concerns for the practitioner regarding differential diagnosis of personality disorders, as well as distinguishing personality disorders within the context of serious co-occurring psychiatric disorders. Additionally, you will explore in detail some of the most up-to-date information on empirically supported treatments for various personality disorders. The material in this course is designed for mental health professionals who work with individuals who have personality disorders. Drawing upon guidelines from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5™), and current empirical literature, this training offers you a comprehensive look at these sometimes very complicated disorders, including their effects on others. Detailed examples and interactive exercises will help you apply these competencies in your own setting. After completing this training, you will be ready to demonstrate best practices for the individuals you serve who struggle with personality disorders.
